MC-Web launcher

Minecraft Java 26.2 in the browser, built from your own game files. Do the steps in order; steps 1 and 2 are only needed once per browser.

1. Choose a player name

3–16 letters, numbers or underscores. Worlds are saved in this browser under this name. There's no sign-in.

Player: choose a name.

2. Get the game

  • Chromebook / any other device: click LOAD GAME FILE and pick the .mcweb file made on the PC.
  • The PC that built it: click INSTALL IN THIS BROWSER. EXPORT GAME FILE saves the .mcweb to copy to other devices.
  • After an update: open MORE at the bottom, click REMOVE FROM THIS BROWSER, then load or install again.

Build: checking for a browser build.

Browser: waiting for a build.

BUILD FROM THE TERMINAL

On the PC that has Minecraft installed, run the command for your system from the public/mcweb checkout, then come back to this page.

macOS

node tools/build.mjs --mc-dir "$HOME/Library/Application Support/minecraft" --out dist/build

Linux

node tools/build.mjs --mc-dir "$HOME/.minecraft" --out dist/build

Windows PowerShell

node tools/build.mjs --mc-dir "$env:APPDATA\.minecraft" --out dist/build

The local server picks up build/web-graal/graal/minecraft-client.js.wasm by itself. Nothing is uploaded.

The game file is Minecraft built from your own copy. Keep it to yourself; don't share or host it.

3. Play

Opens fullscreen. Click the game once to capture the mouse. Stay in fullscreen: in a normal window Ctrl+W closes the tab and loses anything unsaved. Hold Esc to leave fullscreen.

JOIN A FRIEND
  1. The host opens a world, presses Esc and clicks INVITE FRIENDS (top right). They get a 6-character world code.
  2. Type the code here and click CONNECT. Any number of friends can use the same code.
  3. When it says Connected, press PLAY MINECRAFT. You join their world by yourself.

Use a different player name from everyone else in the world. If the code doesn't work (some networks block the matchmaking service), the host can make a long code instead; paste it here and send back the reply code it gives you.

MORE (remove install, boot diagnostics)

Renderer: WebGPU when the browser has it, otherwise WebGL2 (Chromebooks). Add ?mcweb_gl=webgl2 to the address to force WebGL2.

Local server: connecting.

Multiplayer: host from the pause menu (INVITE FRIENDS), or use JOIN A FRIEND.

No persisted boot phases yet.
